Afghanistan World Foundation Education Center is funding the Sonia Nassery Cole School for Girls and Women in Kabul. This is an auxiliary educational service to the Fatima Akbar Zada Educational Center (FAEC) which is dedicated to empowering women through education and sports. The Center aims to uplift impoverished communities, particularly women and girls, by raising awareness, providing capacity building, offering educational and vocational skill training, and creating opportunities for their social and economic empowerment.

FAEC is a women’s community group organization sponsored by Ahmad Shekeb Noori, an Afghan cyclist and cycling champion, women’s rights defender, and currently an active employee of Etisalat UAE.

FAEC HISTORY

FAEC was established in 2021 as a center exclusively for young women. Our learning experience as a development community group comes from a women’s network linked with the Afghanistan Young Women Leaders Program (AYWLP). At FAEC, qualified teachers provide free education to young women in various fields, including sewing, literacy, Islamic studies, English language and even table tennis. We are proud to have more than 200 women actively engaged in our center in the local community in Kabul.

In 2021, FAEC officially launched a free educational platform with a commitment to ensuring that vulnerable women and girls can escape poverty, illiteracy, and despondency. Ms. Fatima Akbarzada, director of FAEC, a recognized social worker and philanthropist, began helping war-affected young women and girls, rebuild their livelihoods, restart schooling, and develop the skills they need for employable occupations. Her dream of creating a professional and sustainable center run by women to support women has paved the way for the development of women and girls across the country.

OUR MISSION

Our mission at FAEC is to help impoverished women gain social and economic potency through capacity building and vocational skills training, thereby creating endless opportunities for them in Kabul. We strive to end violence and suppression of women by empowering them in being self-confident and skilled.
